About the Authors

Melanie Goux is Design Director and partner of Television by Design, a creative firm specializing in the design and production of on-air identities for broadcast television stations. During her 20 year career, her work has appeared on over 200 stations throughout the United States and Canada. Melanie is an active participant in professional organizations such as the Broadcast Designer's Association, as well as the personal web community. She maintains a small, personal weblog, Brushstroke.tv. She resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband of 15 years.

James A. Houff has held the position of design director of WDIV Channel 4 in Detroit Michigan since completing graduate design studies at Cranbrook Academy of Art in 1979. Throughout his tenure at WDIV, he has also enjoyed a prolific free-lance career. Fluent in many media, James is the recipient of numerous awards for both print and motion graphic design. His work has been widely reprinted in design books and periodicals.
